Component Test Technician Role

An exciting position has become available for a full-time Electronics Test Technician (Engineer) based in Thatcham. Our client is looking for a skilled Electronic (Component) Test Technician to work within the Enhanced Inspection Department.

You will be part of the Enhanced Inspection team conducting visual inspection and electronic component testing in a temperature and humidity-controlled room.

Testing requirements will include:

  • visual inspection,
  • testing capacitance and resistance using LCR meter,
  • X-Ray internal structures of electronic Devices,
  • Solderability of terminals and component leads.
  • XRF to determine material makeup,
  • chemical and heated decapsulation.
  • Extensive knowledge of electronics theory would be useful: Ohms Law, resistor & diode identification, DC Circuit theory and transducers, integrated circuits, component programming, power and signal wave forms would also be an advantage but not critical. CPU and memory testing would be an advantage but not critical to the job role.

Requirements for the Test technician role:

  • A BTEC / ONC / HNC / C&G / Apprenticeship or equivalent in electronics engineering.
  • Must be quality conscious and capable of working in a clean room environment.
  • Attention to detail and reliability is essential.
  • Good written English and ability to conduct and write test reports.
