Aspiring Outreach Worker

Location: Thatcham
Salary: 80 to 95 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30-15:30

Are you a Criminology or Psychology Graduate looking to make a real impact on young lives? Do you want to support children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who are at-risk of gang involvement? Are you passionate about early intervention?

If so, this role could be the perfect next step for you!

A special provision in Thatcham are seeking a resilient graduate to join their team as an SEMH Teaching Assistant. Many of the pupils struggle with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and often exhibit anti-social and challenging behaviours. You will help mentor, guide and engage pupils, helping to steer them away from negative influences and towards positive life choices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify the needs and risks of each pupil.
  • Help students develop emotional resilience and positive coping strategies.
  • Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions to prevent anti-social behaviours.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils.
  • Assist teachers in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support mentoring, interventions and therapeutic strategies tailored to each student.
