SEN Teaching Assistant

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team and help them deliver a high standard of education and care for children with a variety of special educational needs. We are dedicated to being an inclusive and supportive learning environment, dedicated to meeting the individual needs of our students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support, adapt learning resources, and use specialized teaching methods to ensure every child receives the best possible education and care. Your role will be varied and dynamic, allowing you to make a significant difference to the lives of children with SEN.

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN, ensuring they can access the curriculum and achieve their potential.
  • Support students with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), dyslexia, ADHD, physical disabilities, and emotional/behavioural difficulties.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver differentiated lessons and interventions.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their confidence, independence, and well-being.
  • Support students in both academic and social settings, helping them navigate the school day and develop key life skills.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and parents.

Desirable Qualifications/Experience:

  • Experience working with students with complex and multiple needs.
  • Employment history of either SEN Teaching Assistant / Classroom Assistant / Student Supervisor
  • Familiarity with specialist SEN interventions and teaching strategies, such as PECS, Makaton, or Team Teach.
  • First aid or other relevant training.
  • Experience with sensory integration and other therapeutic support strategies.
