Mechanical and Electrical Engineer - Are you a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical and Electrical Engineer with experience of leading teams?  Do you have experience in water treatment?

If so, we are looking for several Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to join the Industrial Equipment Mechanic Work Leaders at the United States Air Force 48th Civil Engineering Squadron, RAF Lakenheath.

About the role:

This role is primarily focused on the maintenance, overhaul, and repair of water treatment and distribution systems, industrial waste treatment equipment, and collection systems. You will lead teams in performing all preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, overhaul and repair various types of equipment in water and wastewater treatment plants. You will work 39 hours per week, working hours will be 7:30am – 4:00pm, although may include shift work to cover evenings, weekends and there may be a requirement to travel to the US to other counties for duties or attend necessary training.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead and train teams in performing all preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Overhaul and repair various types of equipment in water and wastewater treatment plants.
  • Plan and lay out work from blueprints, sketches, specifications, and work orders.
  • Make templates, jigs, and other fixtures required for repair or installation.
  • Utilise safety practises and procedures.

About you:

As the Mechanical and Electrical Engineer, you will hold BTEC Level 3 / City and Guilds/NVQ in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.  Have proven experience in leading maintenance tasks and team, as well as expertise in hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Able to Knowledge of operating characteristics of the involved systems and equipment (such as micrometers, dial indicators, anometers, and volt meters), and the applicable installation and repair procedures, methods, and trade practices. A valid driver’s license (Category B) is required for this position.   You will need to undertake a pre-employment physical (including immunisations) for this role.
