Job Title: Material ControllerWe are seeking a diligent and proactive individual to join our client as a Material Controller. In this role, you will be responsible for the storage, maintenance, and management of components and raw materials, ensuring all processes align with best practices and operational procedures. The ideal candidate will offer operational support to the Stores and Purchasing departments, while maintaining accurate stock control and resolving kit shortages to prevent production delays.Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage storage and identification of components and raw materials, adhering to batch control, stock rotation, and first-in-first-out principles.
  • Support the Stores and Purchasing functions to ensure smooth operations.
  • Use the company’s ERP system for stock control, issuing items via pick lists, and tracking consumables.
  • Identify and resolve kit shortages, working closely with the Purchasing department to prevent production delays.
  • Handle procurement responsibilities for specific product groups.
  • Oversee the control of materials sent for sub-contract processing.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts to ensure accurate stock levels.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Quality, and Production teams to avoid material stock-outs or quality issues.
  • Attend daily production meetings to assist in planning daily activities.
  • Collate and provide product documentation (e.g., material certificates, test reports) as needed.
  • Provide cover for the Storeman during holidays or sickness.
  • Perform general administration, housekeeping, and stock-taking duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Previous experience in a stores or inventory role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment is advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems is beneficial (training will be provided).
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Forklift license is preferred; training will be provided if not currently held.
  • Applicants must be willing to undertake forklift training if necessary.
