Our client, a leading contractor within the civil sector, is currently seeking a skilled M&E Engineer to cover water treatment sites in the Norfolk region. This role offers the unique opportunity to work closely with the M&E Manager and step into their position upon their retirement at the end of the year.

As the M&E Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and operating mechanical and electrical systems at water treatment plants, ensuring they function efficiently. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your career and gain the experience needed to step into a managerial role within a well-established, growing company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the M&E Manager to ensure smooth operations and support day-to-day activities.
  • Oversee and manage contractors and site teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, company standards, and client specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any M&E issues to minimize disruption to operations.
  • Play an instrumental role in preparing to take over the M&E Manager position at the end of the year.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, and Automation) systems is advantageous.
  • Hold an SMSTS or SSSTS qualification (desirable).
  • 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations qualification.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • Experience within the water treatment industry is beneficial but not a requirement.
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to lead small teams when necessary.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to progress their career in a dynamic and supportive environment, with the chance to take on increased responsibilities and ultimately lead the M&E function for a well-respected company.
