The Role:As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, youll be reporting directly to the Technical Director. Youll play a crucial role in managing full projects, leading dynamic teams, and delivering cutting-edge designs. What Were Looking For:We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a passion for innovation and leadership. To excel in this role, youll need:
- A strong mechanical engineering background Ideally, youll be qualified to degree level or equivalent, with a deep understanding of mechanical design principles and practices.
- Extensive experience in Mechanical Design A proven track record in creating and refining mechanical systems, with a focus onSheet Metal Designand ensuring manufacturability throughout the design process.
- Expertise in DFM (Design for Manufacturing) Youll have solid experience inDesign for Manufacturingprinciples, ensuring that designs are practical and cost-effective to produce. Youll be responsible for driving efficient, high-quality designs from concept to completion.
- Comprehensive knowledge of BOM (Bill of Materials) You should have a strong understanding of managing Bills of Materials, ensuring accurate documentation and smooth communication between engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Proven project leadership Experience inleading design projects, guiding teams through every stage of the process, from initial concept through to final delivery. Youll be adept at prioritizing tasks, managing timelines, and ensuring the successful completion of complex projects.
- Software proficiency You should have experience with CAD software, ideallyAutodesk Inventor, although training will be provided if needed. Your skills in CAD will be pivotal in bringing designs to life and communicating ideas clearly.
- Strong problem-solving skills A keen eye for detail and a proactive mindset, with the ability to overcome technical challenges and continuously improve the design process.
- Collaboration and communication skills As part of a team, youll work closely with other engineers, departments, and stakeholders to ensure project success. Excellent communication and the ability to manage cross-functional teams will be key in this role.
