Buyer Based in Thetford £40,000 per annum We are seeking an experienced Buyer to join our clients team in Thetford. In this role, you will be responsible for procuring goods, materials, and commodities to support production and operational requirements. You will ensure continuity of supply while considering cost, quality, lead times, and supplier performance. Key Responsibilities for a Buyer:
  • Source, plan, and expedite purchase orders to meet production schedules and spare parts demands.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, ensuring effective communication.
  • Process purchase orders for capital and flow parts based on customer demand, forecasts, and system inputs.
  • Address and resolve material quality, pricing, and supply issues, as well as delivery and invoice discrepancies.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and support cross-functional projects.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to manage supply challenges that may impact operations.
  • Act as a liaison between suppliers and relevant departments for purchasing processes and new projects.
  • Monitor and assess risks and opportunities related to procurement.
  • Negotiate contracts, improve pricing and terms, and identify cost-saving opportunities using procurement best practices.
 Skills & Attributes required for this Buyer role:
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • Commercial and financial awareness, understanding the impact of procurement on production and customer fulfillment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage urgent situations.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP experience beneficial).
 Ideal Qualifications & Experience for this Buyer role:
  • Previous experience within a purchasing role, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement, negotiation, and cost analysis.
  • Experience working closely with suppliers and leading supplier meetings.
  • Proven ability to add value, reduce costs, and contribute to business improvements.
  • Understanding of automotive processes and components is advantageous.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • CIPS qualification or working towards one is desirable but not essential.
