You will oversee the daily operations of a quality control laboratory and, in this pivotal role, ensure the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of test results, contributing directly to the production of high-quality products.
The successful candidate will lead a team of lab technicians, develop and implement testing protocols, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hands-on approach to developing and implementing best practice quality procedures, particularly within a manufacturing environment.
- Serve as the primary contact for quality issues related to fluids and raw materials.
- Contribute to new business initiatives and projects, and assess their impact on QC laboratory activities.
- Support the onboarding process for new customers.
- Ensure audit readiness for your area of responsibility.
- Conduct testing of components and products to established standards.
- Perform audits in line with GMP standards.
- Monitor the quality of finished goods in production and address any identified issues.
- Support manufacturing and material trials.
- Lead, manage, and motivate laboratory technicians to achieve high performance.
- Engage with suppliers as needed.
- Managing daily laboratory operations, ensuring accurate and timely test results.
- Training and managing laboratory staff
- Maintaining compliance with industry regulations, developing and refining testing procedures, and continually improving laboratory performance.
- Maintaining thorough documentation

- Driving process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Upholding the highest standards of safety and quality in all laboratory operations
- Supervisory experience in a laboratory setting, preferably within an FMCG industry.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Chemist) are desirable.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent people management and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in troubleshooting complex technical issues.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
The hours of work are Monday to Friday 0900-1700 and the salary is £30,000 per annum.
