About the Role:

As a Support Worker in the Housing Services team, you will play a pivotal role in helping people who are vulnerable and at risk or in need of urgent accommodation. This includes people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and victims of domestic abuse. Individuals are supported to transition into longer-term accommodation and can also get help to access education, employment opportunities and healthcare.

You will work within a dynamic team to create a safe, secure, and comfortable environment, enabling customers to begin their recovery from the trauma of homelessness. You will be the first point of contact for individuals in need, helping them to transition into longer-term accommodation and access crucial education, employment, and healthcare opportunities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proactively liaising with customers and building rapport.
  • Providing specialist support to those at risk of homelessness or in urgent accommodation need.
  • Working collaboratively with your team to deliver a safe environment.
  • Helping customers recover from homelessness trauma and transition to long-term solutions.
  • Supporting individuals in accessing education, employment, and healthcare.

About You:

As the successful Support Worker, you will ideally have worked within a similar role, have experience of working within a multidisciplinary team and managing challenging situations and finding practical solutions. You will have an understanding of health and safety in accommodation environment. Proficient in IT systems and reporting tools. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. It would desirable if you have a qualification in housing, social work, or community work. The client would also be interested in applicants who have lived experience with issues related to their service users, such as substance misuse and homelessness. You will also hold a driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Please note: this position involves work that is a regulated activity and is therefore subject to receipt of a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure with a barred list check from the Disclosure and Barring Service. This is in accordance with the Police Act 1997 and the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. This is to be paid for by the successful applicant and will be reimbursed upon the successful passing of a 6-month probationary period.
