We are looking for a compassionate and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our primary school in Thornton Heath. This is a great opportunity to provide dedicated support to students with special educational needs, helping them to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and group support to pupils with special educational needs, ensuring tailored learning strategies are in place.
  • Assist teachers in adapting lessons and activities to meet the diverse needs of SEN pupils.
  • Support pupils with social, communication, and behavioural challenges, fostering a positive and structured environment.
  • Help with the preparation and organisation of classroom materials, ensuring accessibility for all students.
  • Supervise students during lessons, playtime, and school outings, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to monitor and support pupil progress.
  • Assist with any personal care needs, including mobility support, where required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs in a school setting is desirable.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a patient and empathetic approach to supporting children.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion and encouraging positive development in all pupils.
  • A solid understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures (training can be provided).
