Prospero Teaching is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to work four days per week with a post-16 cohort at an SEMH college located in South Norwood.

You will be supporting KS5 students during their Art and Media lessons.

Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Key Stage: KS5

School Type: A specialist school and alternative provision that supports children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, as well as those with additional learning needs.

Location: South Norwood

Full-Time: 4 days per week

Hours: 8:30am - 4:00pm, plus parent evenings

Salary: 90 minimum

Start Date: ASAP

End Date: On-going

Contract Type (temp/perm/temp to perm): Temporary with the opportunity to go permanent



Essential Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs) with several years of experience in the field.
  • Proven experience working with post-16 students, including those with additional educational needs.
  • Competence in supporting KS5 Art/Media pathways, as the role involves working closely with students in our Art and Media courses.
  • Effective behaviour management skills and the ability to foster positive relationships with students.


Desirable Skills and Attributes:

  • Background or qualifications in Art/Media to align with the needs of our KS5 curriculum.
  • A patient and empathetic approach, with a focus on supporting young adults' personal and academic development.

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child related references that cover the last 2 years
  • Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year
