Role: Floor Coverings Testing Technician (Lab based) Part time
Location: Kettering
Salary: Up to £24,000 pro rata
Hours: 22.5 hrs per week Ref: 25/24
Our client has a part time opportunity for a Technician to work within their Floor Coverings department. This role is part-time, 22.5 hours per week over three days.
Our clients Foor Coverings team conducts testing on a wide range of floor coverings products for a global customer base, to ensure products meet a minimum level of quality.
The department consists of a series of accredited laboratories, housing a range of test equipment and machines, used by the team to test the physical properties of floor coverings against International, European, and British standards
Results from testing are reported to customers and used for their product development or can be used to apply for CE or UKCA certification.
Responsibilities
As a Floor Coverings Technician you will be required to carry out the following:
- Preparation and conditioning of samples prior to testing
- Testing and assisting with physical testing of floor covering samples to British, European and international standards
- Maintain cleanliness of laboratory areas including assisting others with moving test samples
- Planning and agreeing testing schedules with customers and Head of Floor Coverings
- Communicating with customers via email and telephone
- Completing and maintaining training records
About You
Successful candidates will be required to have the following:
Essential
- GCSE Maths, English & Science minimum Grade C (Grade 5 or above)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Good computer skills – word & Excel
- Able to work to deadlines
- Be able to follow instructions accurately & have a good attention to detail
- Demonstrable experience of organisation and planning skills
- Good time management and scheduling skills
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team
- Flexibility, tenacity and a ‘can-do’ attitude
Desirable
- Experience working within an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory environment
- Experience working within the floor coverings sector
- Knowledge of testing required for different types of consumer products
