About The School:

The school is a forward-thinking provider of education and care for children, young people, and adults with special educational needs and disabilities. They are excited to announce a brand-new educational provision in Northampton designed to support up to 80 pupils aged 5-19 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful Teaching Assistant will start in February 2025.

The Role:

As a Teaching Assistant at this SEN school, you will play a crucial role in supporting our students with their learning and overall well-being, ensuring every child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to children with their educational and personal development needs, fostering a warm and caring relationship to help them feel safe and engaged in their learning.
  • Assist with care needs and positive behaviour management, adapting your approach to meet the unique needs of each child.
  • Encourage independence and personal growth in pupils while maintaining high expectations for behaviour.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher to deliver high-quality, challenging, and differentiated educational activities that help pupils achieve their full potential across all areas of learning.
  • Be flexible and ready to assist with various tasks as needed in this dynamic SEN environment.

Candidate Profile:

Successful candidates will likely demonstrate:

  • Experience working with children with SEN, either in a paid or voluntary capacity.
  • A full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle (desirable).
  • GCSEs in Maths and English at Level 3 or above (essential).
  • A recognized qualification at Level 2 or above in Support Work for Teaching and Learning in Schools, or an equivalent (desirable).
  • A strong understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • The ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic work environment.
  • A positive and creative approach to meeting the individual needs of pupils.
  • A commitment to putting the child first and treating each pupil as an individual.
