Quality Control Inspector (Stroud)

Job Purpose

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for conducting various inspection tasks to ensure products and processes conform to company standards, specifications, and drawings. Working within the Inspection Team, this role ensures quality assurance through meticulous checks and documentation, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections across all quality control aspects, including goods-received, in-process, non-destructive testing (NDT), and final inspections.
  • Ensure product and process conformance to specifications and maintain accurate documentation, including:
    • First Off Inspections
    • Dimensional Inspection Record Sheets
    • Dye Penetrant Inspection
    • PMI, Ferritescope & Copper Sulphate Reports
    • Works Traveller Booking
    • Goods Reject Notes
    • Non-Conformance Reports
    • Work Instructions/Procedures
    • Raw Material Certification
    • Calibration of Inspection Equipment
  • Raise non-conformance reports when items or processes fail to meet required standards.
  • Use industry-standard quality control measuring techniques and equipment to ensure production compliance.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in all inspection areas.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Inspection Team under the guidance of the Inspection Supervisor.
  • Consult with internal teams and customer representatives regarding inspection processes and final product validation.
  • Ensure compliance with company Health & Safety and Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2008).
  • Adhere to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments, completing training and contributing to ESG initiatives.

Required Expertise & Experience

  • Proficiency in using inspection/measuring equipment (e.g., micrometers, verniers, thread gauges, shadow graphs, hardness testing).
  • PCN Level 2 NDT Inspector certification (desirable).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience operating Co-ordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), both manual & CNC.
  • Understanding of materials certification and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with QMS ISO 9001:2008 is desirable.
  • Effective communication and people skills, capable of working collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry-related software.

  • Ensures compliance with industry standards, maintaining company reputation and product reliability.
  • Works closely with internal teams (Production, Engineering, Planning, Purchasing) to uphold quality standards.
  • Consults with customer representatives to ensure final inspection and witness of goods per quality plans.
  • Supports process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the department.

Package & Benefits

  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday, rotating shifts: 6 a.m. – 2 p.m. / 2 p.m. – 10 p.m.)
