Role - Civil Supervisor
Location - Thurrock, Essex, England
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Civil Supervisor with expertise in the installation of precast concrete. The ideal candidate will hold a CPCS AP (Appointed Person) Lifting Operations ticket and will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all aspects of precast concrete installation on-site. This role demands a proactive leader with a strong understanding of lifting operations, adherence to safety standards, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the precast concrete installation team.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth workflow.
- Manage the installation of precast concrete components, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design specifications.
- Plan and execute lifting operations, ensuring compliance with method statements and risk assessments.
- Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations on-site.
- Conduct pre-lift checks, toolbox talks, and safety briefings regularly.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, lift plans, and method statements.
- Provide technical guidance to the installation crew as required.
- Monitor and ensure the quality of work aligns with project standards.
- Identify and rectify issues promptly to minimize project delays.
- Maintain accurate records of daily site activities, progress reports, and lifting operations.
- Collaborate in preparing risk assessments, method statements, and other necessary documentation.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in supervising precast concrete installation projects.
- Valid CPCS AP (Appointed Person) Lifting Operations ticket.
- Strong knowledge of lifting plans, crane operations, and precast installation techniques.
- Comprehensive understanding of construction health and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage teams effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
- Proficient in maintaining detailed site records and reports.
Qualifications and Skills:
- NVQ Level 3/4 or equivalent in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
- Experience working on large-scale civil engineering projects.
- Proficiency in using project management software or tools.
