Active Recruitment is partnering with an outstanding mainstream primary school in Tilbury, Thurrock, which is currently looking for a skilled Learning Support Assistantwith experience supporting primary-aged pupils with ASD and Social & Emotional Needs. The school offers a well-resourced environment, providing a broad and inclusive curriculum along with excellent facilities. Responsibilities of the Learning Support Assistant in Tilbury, Thurrock:

  • Support children with Special Educational Needs (Autism, Emotional Behaviour Difficulties) in small groups and one to one.
  • Developing social/emotional skills (depending on individual need)
  • Helping to plan and organise learning activities for students being supported
  • Provide support for students' emotional and social development by encouraging and modelling positive behaviour

  • Assist in the production of appropriate teaching materials
  • Contribute to the target setting and review process and support pupil in meeting specific targets of IEP.

The ideal Learning Support Assistant will have:

  • The ability to assess the individual learning needs of pupils
  • The ability to positively manage challenging behaviour
  • A positive attitude, the ability to empathise and a willingness to develop and learn on the job
  • A calm, patient and caring approach to working with children
  • Experience working with pupils with ASD.
