Technical Services Controller - Food Manufacturing

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 08:30 AM – 17:00 PM (Flexibility required)

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 (Competitive, based on experience)

Main Purpose of the Technical Services Controller Role: To drive delivery and continual improvement in customer service, ensuring customer-to-factory alignment with transparency. Ensure adherence to best practice food production standards while balancing commercial challenges.

Day-to-Day Duties:

  • Co-ordinate customer enquiries and complaints, providing timely responses.
  • Conduct customer complaint analysis and implement improvements.
  • Manage the Approved Supplier Process and maintain supplier documentation.
  • Audit off-site suppliers where necessary.
  • Work with raw material suppliers to gather data for HARA approvals.
  • Perform Horizon Scanning using FERA and other tools to challenge suppliers effectively.
  • Act as the BMS champion for Technical Services.
  • Maintain and update recipe management systems.
  • Support training on case and pallet label generation using the Bartender system.
  • Assist with external audits when required.
  • Review and approve client artwork, labels, and packaging.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Health & Safety and food safety legislation.
  • Maintain effective communication with colleagues and managers.

  • Contribute to health and safety initiatives, including risk assessment and investigations.
  • Promote environmental efficiency by reducing waste and using resources responsibly.

  • Demonstrate effective listening skills to enhance communication.

  • Previous experience in food safety compliance.
