Worldwide Operations & Export Bookings Clerk

Hours:Permanent, full-time role based in Tipton (DY4 7UF). Office-based position with 9 -5pm working hours.

Salary:Competitive salary - £25 - £29K, plus private healthcare and an attractive monthly bonus scheme (paid in lieu after completing a six-month probation period).

Day-to-Day Duties:

  • Receive, process, and manage multiple customer export bookings within agreed timeframes and company standards.
  • Handle sea and air freight exports, including Full Container Load (FCL), Less than Container Load (LCL), and air freight.
  • Liaise with shipping lines, consolidators, and air freight agents to ensure smooth operations.
  • Input and maintain high-quality data into the company’s bespoke booking platform, Box Top.
  • Communicate with suppliers to fulfil customer bookings, ensuring confirmations are sent to both suppliers and clients.
  • Resolve issues such as haulage delays, vessel details, and alternative transport solutions when required.
  • Track jobs from start to finish, keeping customers informed throughout the process.
  • Ensure all jobs are closed successfully and to the satisfaction of customers.

Essential Skills:

  • A minimum of two years' experience in the freight forwarding sector.
  • Strong team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, exciting environment.
  • Self-motivated with the capability to follow and execute company policies and guidelines.
  • Proven problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build rapport over the phone.
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and attention to detail.

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous experience using the Box Top booking platform.
  • Knowledge of international shipping regulations and documentation.
  • Experience dealing with customs procedures and compliance.
  • Additional training or qualifications in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field would be advantageous.
