Maintenance Engineer - Electrically Biased

Hours

  • Rotational shifts (40 hours per week).
  • 5:00 am – 2:00 pm (Monday – Friday).
  • 1:00 pm – 10:00 pm (Monday – Friday).
  • 7:00 pm – 6:00 am (Monday – Thursday).

Annual Salary £45,680

  • Competitive hourly rate: £20.00 per hour (day shift), with a 30% night shift premium (£26.00 per hour).

We are looking for a proactive and skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our clients team based in Tipton. Based in a rotational shift environment, you will play a key role in ensuring all manufacturing plant, equipment, and facilities operate efficiently. This role focuses on improving equipment reliability by increasing the Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and reducing the Mean Time to Repair (MTTR). Day to Day Duties

  • Perform safe and professional repairs on all plant and equipment.
  • Develop and carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules.
  • Assist visiting engineers and contractors.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor repairs to maintain production efficiency.
  • Use CMMS to log and track all maintenance activities.
  • Prioritize workloads to meet production requirements effectively.
  • Assist in the relocation, installation, and repositioning of machines and equipment.
  • Report root causes of breakdowns and equipment concerns to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and secure working environment in line with health and safety policies.
  • Support production teams in achieving daily targets by reducing downtime.

  • Work in compliance with health and safety policies, ensuring hazards are identified, assessed, and controlled.
  • Be proactive in managing personal and team health and safety.
  • Maintain an environmentally friendly workspace by reducing waste and protecting company assets.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical and Mechanical disciplines.
  • Electrically biased (60/40 preferred).
  • Strong troubleshooting and maintenance experience.
  • Experience with planned preventative maintenance systems (PPM).
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize workloads efficiently.
  • Proficiency in CMMS and Microsoft Office.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience in the food industry or other transferable manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to perform dynamic risk assessments during tasks.
  • Team leadership or mentor experience.
