Technical Designer

Tisbury, Wiltshire

Salary: 24,000 - 40,000 (higher salary available for experienced Cabinet Vision users)

Full-time, 40 hours per week. Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

Contract: Full-time (3-month fixed term contract, with the opportunity for a permanent role)

Purpose of the role

They are looking for a talented Technical Designer to join their team in Tisbury, Wiltshire. Reporting to the Design Manager, the role involves providing drawing, quoting, and technical support to assist the Sales Design team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for precision and a strong interest in design-to-manufacture processes, particularly within the realm of bespoke kitchens and domestic spaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce kitchen designs to company standards from client meeting notes, sketch plans, and site surveys.
  • Use Cabinet Vision software to design kitchens and back-of-house spaces, with occasional use of AutoCAD and SketchUp for more detailed elements.
  • Develop accurate project quotations using systems like SMART and EQ.
  • Create specification sheets that outline technical details and unique aspects of each project.
  • Make ongoing amendments to designs and quotations based on client feedback and re-issue to the Design Manager.
  • Collaborate with the Systems Engineer and workshop staff to ensure that designs are achievable within the quoted timeframes.

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Experience with Cabinet Vision or SketchUp is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with MS Excel for quoting purposes.
  • Highly numerate, with the ability to create thorough and accurate quotes.
  • Detail-oriented, methodical, and capable of managing your own workload.
  • A strong finisher who sees tasks through to completion.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and progressing in a dynamic design environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar environment.
  • Eager to learn new skills and develop professionally.
  • A strong team player who builds collaborative relationships with colleagues, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and focused on delivering high-quality work within standard working hours.
  • Precision and accuracy are core qualities for this role.
  • Based within a sensible commuting distance to the workshop and design studio in Tisbury, with occasional flexibility for travel to client sites.
