Job Description:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Material Controller to manage the materials flow within our operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the inventory process, ensuring that materials are correctly tracked, safely handled, and readily available for production. With a focus on efficiency and accuracy, the Material Controller will play a critical role in maintaining stock levels and supporting the company's operational needs.


Key Responsibilities:

Technical & Operational Skills:

  • Inventory Management:Oversee the management of stock levels, ensuring optimal quantities are maintained, minimizing waste, and setting appropriate reordering thresholds to support production needs.
  • ERP/WMS Proficiency:Utilize inventory and warehouse management systems (such as Sage, SAP, or similar) to monitor stock movements, update records, and facilitate smooth operations.
  • ESD Knowledge:Apply understanding of ESD safety protocols in the handling and storage of sensitive materials.
  • Material Handling:Safely manage the movement, storage, and organization of materials, ensuring that specialized products are stored correctly to prevent damage or contamination.
  • Documentation Management:Accurately track incoming and outgoing stock, maintain up-to-date delivery logs, and update internal systems with relevant material movements.
  • Supply Chain Coordination:Communicate effectively with suppliers, warehouse teams, and internal departments such as production and sales to ensure timely material availability.
  • Procurement Support:Raise purchase orders, monitor delivery schedules, and proactively follow up on delayed shipments to ensure the timely arrival of materials.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Essential:GCSEs or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
  • Desirable:NVQ or equivalent qualification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Experience:Previous experience in warehousing, materials control, or a similar role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Attention to Detail:Crucial for managing sensitive materials, particularly when handling ESD-sensitive products.
  • Organizational Skills:Strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple activities simultaneously, and ensure efficient stock management.

  • Communication:Clear communication skills to coordinate effectively with suppliers, internal teams, and other departments.
  • Problem-Solving:Ability to identify issues such as stock discrepancies or delayed deliveries and proactively resolve them to prevent operational disruptions.
  • Teamwork:Ability to work collaboratively with others while contributing independently to the smooth operation of the supply chain.
