Teaching Assistant for Year 1 Pupil with Learning and Emotional Needs

Position: Teaching Assistant

Location: Small village school in rural setting between Tiverton and Crediton

Start Date: September 4th, 2024

Working Hours: 8:30 am to 3:15 pm, Monday to Friday

Pay: £88 to £90 per day, paid weekly

Contract Duration: Long-term basis until at least Easter 2025 half term with the opportunity to become a permanent team member.

Timeplan Education are working with a primary school, located in a picturesque rural setting between Tiverton and Crediton, who are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to provide support to a Year 1 pupil with learning and emotional needs. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the child's academic progress and emotional well-being.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to a Year 1 pupil with additional learning needs, including academic and emotional support.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to develop and implement individualised learning plans.
  • Adapt and modify teaching materials and resources to meet the specific needs of the pupil.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment for the pupil, encouraging their participation and engagement in class activities.
  • Monitor and track the pupil's progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Assist with classroom management, ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with other teaching assistants and school staff to promote a holistic approach to the pupil's development.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young children with additional learning needs is essential.
  • A patient and nurturing approach, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with the pupil.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with the class teacher, SENCO, and parents.
  • A car driver, as the school is in a rural setting with limited public transportation options.
