We are excited to recruit a dedicated Outdoor Education Teacher to join the team at a vibrant SEN school that specialises in supporting students with autism and ADHD.

About the role:

As an Outdoor Education Teacher, you’ll take the lead in designing and delivering an alternative curriculum that extends far beyond the four walls of a classroom. Working in close partnership with a multidisciplinary team, you’ll create and manage outdoor learning programs and sensory-based activities, tailored to the needs of the students. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic educator who is eager to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver outdoor education based activities: Develop and lead a curriculum focused nature-based, practical and sensory activities that support social skills, emotional regulation and academic goals in line with the national curriculum.
  • Individualised learning: Tailor activities to suit the needs of each student, incorporating strategies that promote engagement, skill building and personal growth.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with classroom teachers, SEN specialists and therapists to align LOTC activities with classroom learning objectives and therapeutic goals
  • Safety and wellbeing: Ensure a safe, supportive and stimulating environment for all students, being mindful of the sensory and behavioural needs associated with ASD and ADHD

The ideal candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with experience with special educational needs (SEN)
  • Passion for outdoor education: Demonstrated experience in or a passion for delivering outdoor and experiential learning activities
  • Understanding of ASD and ADHD: Knowledge of best practices in supporting students with ASD, ADHD and related needs
  • Strong communication skills: Ability to engage effectively with students, staff and families, and to foster positive, supportive relationships
  • Relevant outdoor education qualifications would be highly advantageous

Working Hours:

8:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday, term-time only.
