Reed Accountancy & Finance are currently supporting our client a well-established construction company based in Tonbridge, seeking an experienced Interim Company Accountant to join their team during a transition period. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong background in accounting within the construction industry. This role is critical in providing financial guidance and support to the company during a period of transition for up to 5 months.

Company Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all company accounts and investments.
  • Create monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts.
  • Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports.
  • Supervise and manage financial department staff, including accountants and financial assistants.
  • Motivate and lead the finance team to achieve business goals.
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported.
  • Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation.
  • Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
  • Develop budgets and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports.
  • Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities.
  • Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies.
  • Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations.
  • Report to the Managing Director with timely and accurate financial information.
  • Assist the Managing Director in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.

Company Accountant Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a company accountant, preferably within the construction sector.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting and legislation.
  • Proficient in accounting software and MS Office, with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time and prioritise work effectively.
  • ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification is highly desirable.
