About the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Quality Engineer on behalf of our client, a leading manufacturing company based in Staplehurst, Kent. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organisation and play a pivotal role in ensuring exceptional quality standards while driving continuous improvement across the business.

As a Quality Engineer, you will work closely with key stakeholders to promote a culture of quality excellence. This hands-on role requires a strong background in quality control, process improvement, and experience with ISO 9001 standards. You will take ownership of day-to-day inspection duties, support internal audits, and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with quality technicians to ensure products are inspected and meet production deadlines.
  • Plan, coordinate, and carry out internal audits to maintain quality compliance.
  • Develop and manage essential documentation, including workflows and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Investigate non-conformance reports (NCRs), determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Support the management of ISO 9001 systems and assist with supplier quality assurance.
  • Address customer quality concerns, including concessions and corrective actions.
  • Monitor and maintain quality targets, key performance indicators (KPIs), and calibration systems.
  • Drive key quality improvement initiatives, such as FMEA, 8D methodologies, and process audits.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking candidates who demonstrate a proactive approach, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively across teams.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient in fine limit sheet metal inspection.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, and first-principle measuring techniques.
  • Experience in investigating NCRs and implementing CAPA processes.
  • Knowledge of FMEA, 8D, and AQAP methodologies (PPAP experience is desirable).
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Exceptional organisational and IT skills, including experience using ERP systems.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
  • ISO 9001 auditing experience.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
