Manufacturing Process Engineer

  • Location: Staplehurst, Kent
  • Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (08:00 – 17:00) + Quarterly Bonus
  • Contract: Full-time, Permanent, Site-based

Reed Engineering have partnered with a specialist manufacturer during an exciting period of expansion. We are recruiting for a Manufacturing Process Engineer. This role is ideal for a candidate who holds solid manufacturing process experience and looking to advance their career in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Day-to-day of the Manufacturing Process Engineer role:

  • Provide technical assistance and problem-solving solutions to the production team.
  • Sourcing, justify and implementing new machinery and monitoring its output 
  • Contribute to the review and improvement of production processes using Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methods.
  • Collaborate closely with various departments on relevant improvement projects.
  • Liaise with Engineering/Design departments and the Workshop Manager to review new products before production release.
  • Support the Sales department in producing accurate production routings and assist the Quality department in creating precise manufacturing documentation.

Required Skills & Qualifications of the Manufacturing Process Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with exposure to new process and product introductions.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of working effectively with staff and management.
  • Proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Competent in project management, with strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, and experience with MRP systems.
  • Experience in creating manufacturing documentation, such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Desirable Skills of the Manufacturing Process Engineer:

  • Experience in sheet metal or deep drawing processes.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing methods.
  • Experience in low-mid volume batch manufacturing.
  • Experience in sourcing and justifying capital equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical process issues related to internal/external quality concerns.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001 quality system, 5S, or Six Sigma.
