Our client is an international manufacturer of high quality printed products based in East Peckham, Kent. They have asked us to recruit an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer on a Permanent basis.

You will be reporting to the Engineering Manager and the main aim of the job is:

To carry out maintenance activities in order to maximise the reliability, efficiency and safety of production equipment

To be involved in continuous improvement projects on equipment to give internal and external customer benefits

Principal Performance Objectives

Carry out preventative maintenance tasks on critical plant items

Carry out repairs to equipment as required and assist with further improvements to maximise equipment effectiveness

Ongoing involvement on project work, including new equipment installations and refurbishment projects as required

Carry out equipment modifications and improvements to meet changing production requirements

Carry out all work to agreed safety standards and procedures

Most important tasks

Carry out routine maintenance tasks to critical plant items to maximise reliability

Attention to plant repairs and breakdowns to minimise downtime

Involvement in continuous improvement projects to improve productivity

Health & Safety Risks

The role is workshop and factory based and the many varied activities undertaken by the Engineering department could present some significant hazards if not managed correctly. Therefore, the Job holder will need to be familiar with working in a Health and Safety focused environment

Knowledge, Abilities and Qualifications

Apprenticeship served mechanical based engineering technician with recognised relevant general engineering qualifications

Broad based general engineering workshop skills including welding (MIG/MMA), machining, fabrication and sheet metal work, general fault finding, breakdown repairs and experience of hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, fans and mechanical devices

Preferably a background in maintenance operations in a manufacturing environment

Engineering background in a Paper Converting or printing environment would be an advantage

40 hours per week 6am - 2pm and 2pm - 10pm alternate weeks

25 days holiday + bank holidays, pension scheme and sick pay after qualifying period

The company close at Christmas for 4 days

Salary: £32,687.00 including shift allowance per annum
