Senior Purchasers opportunity with this expanding high tech manufacturing company.
You will manage over £1m of company spend and oversee a Purchasing Assistant. This role offers the chance to shape and develop the future of our purchasing department as the company continues to grow. You will handle the processing function, support all departments with stock and non-stock purchasing, and cultivate key supplier relationships to ensure operational success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with managers to identify purchasing needs,
  • Handle technical purchasing requirements across the company, including specialist raw materials and sundry items.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure sufficient supply while minimising excess and obsolescence.
  • Work with the sales team on customer forecasting and the planning team to meet stock availability targets.
  • Review and enhance the supply chain to meet business needs.
  • Select efficient, cost-effective, and compliant suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Manage and monitor supplier performance to ISO 9001 standards, ensuring compliance through regular communication.
  • Oversee the on-time delivery performance of our supply base.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure material requirements for large-scale projects are met.
  • Delegate tasks and supervise the Purchasing Assistant.
  • Advise on market trends and factors affecting availability and pricing.
  • Develop and track supplier metrics to evaluate performance, costs, and quality.

Essential Skills:

  • At least 3 years of experience in an engineering purchasing role.
  • Experience with MRP systems (including order processing and receipt).
  • Strong negotiating skills for dealing with suppliers.
  • Proficiency in IT (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proactive and willing to learn.
