My customer is a leading manufacturer of specialty polymers and resins for the electronics industry, particularly focusing on solder masks, legend inks, and other materials used in printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing.

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our Research and Development team. In this role, you will assist in the development, testing, and quality control of polymer formulations for electronics applications. The successful candidate will work closely with our existing team to ensure our products meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and test polymer formulations according to established protocols
  • Perform quality control testing on raw materials and finished products
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and prepare technical reports
  • Operate analytical instruments including FTIR and viscometers / Rheology equipment
  • Support process development and troubleshooting activities
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety procedures
  • Assist with scale-up trials from laboratory to production

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or related technical field would be beneficial but not essential
  • 1-3 years of laboratory experience, preferably in polymer chemistry or materials science
  • Familiarity with testing techniques and safe lab practices
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise protocols
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations in a chemical laboratory environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the electronics industry, particularly with PCB materials
  • Knowledge of photopolymers, epoxy resins, or UV-curable systems
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems
  • Experience with design of experiments (DOE) methodology
  • Understanding of electrical insulation properties and testing

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and laboratory software

Working Conditions

  • Laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals requiring appropriate PPE
  • May require standing for extended periods
