We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Design & Technology/Woodwork Teacher to join our dynamic team at a thriving secondary school in the Tonbridge area. This long-term position is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated educator who is passionate about imparting practical skills and theoretical knowledge in design, technology, and woodwork.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver inspiring and informative lessons in Design & Technology, with a particular focus on woodwork.
- Foster a creative and safe workshop environment where students can develop their skills in using tools and machinery appropriately.
- Assess and evaluate studentsā progress in both practical and theoretical aspects of the subject.
- Collaborate with other members of the department to develop a cohesive curriculum that integrates innovative teaching methods.
- Maintain up-to-date records of studentsā achievements and progress.
- Engage with students to inspire a passion for the subject and encourage further study and career opportunities in related fields.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a specialism in Design & Technology or a related subject.
- Proven experience in teaching Design & Technology, specifically woodwork, at the secondary school level.
- Strong practical knowledge and skills in woodwork, including the safe operation of tools and machinery.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students, fostering an environment of learning and creativity.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with educational best practices.
