SER are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants for an SEN school in Tonbridge. This is an ambitious school for children and young people aged 2-19 with profound, severe and complex needs. The school are looking for exceptional people to join their team who are able to demonstrate belief in the school culture and ethos; have a passion for working with children and young people with special needs as well as creativity and energy.

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

Ages: EYFS - KS5

SEN: PMLD (profound multiple learning difficulties)

Hours: 08:30 - 15:30 (Full Time)

Rate: 12:31pr hr (+ holiday pay)

Location: Tonbridge

Start Date: September 2024

Ideal candidates will:

  • Professional and caring individual
  • Have a good understanding about safeguarding and working with vulnerable children
  • Flexible, adaptable and be able to use own initiative
  • Must be comfortable with personal care (toileting)
  • Moving and Handling (incl. Hoists) beneficial but not essential
  • Experience working within SEN or working with children is beneficial but not essential (all applications welcome)

As the range of pupil’s ages and SEN requirements vary, I am looking for flexible team members who are confident to work across all aspects of SEN and all key stages.

  • Be able to commit to working the hours specified above.
  • Provide an enhanced DBS registered on the update service. If you do not hold a valid DBS, be willing to apply for a new DBS. The cost of a DBS is a one-off payment of £38 with an annual subscription of £13 per year to the DBS Update Service.
  • If you have been a UK resident for less than 5 years, a right to work visa must be provided and a criminal background check certificate must be provided for any country resided in for 6 months or more within the past 5 years.
