GSL Education Kent are looking for compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join schools in Tonbridge, starting immediately.
About the role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the academic and personal growth of students. You will provide one-on-one support and work with small groups, helping students with special educational needs (SEN), including social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges, autism spectrum condition (ASC), ADHD, and other SEND requirements.
Your responsibilities as a SEN TA will include assisting teachers in delivering lessons tailored to each student's needs, fostering an inclusive learning environment. Additionally, you will encourage students’ independence and confidence while aiding them in their academic studies and personal development. You will collaborate closely with SENCOs and teachers to modify lesson plans and learning strategies as per the curriculum. Managing student behaviour to maintain a positive learning atmosphere is essential, as is supporting classroom activities when the teacher is absent, ensuring a seamless continuation of learning.
Requirements
To be successful in the role of SEN Teaching Assistant, you will need:
- CACHE Level 2 or 3, or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (preferred but not mandatory).
- A degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field is desirable.
- Experience working with children in an SEN environment or as an SEN Teaching Assistant is essential.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with a caring and patient attitude.
- The ability to work as part of a team and adapt to the unique needs of students.
