We are currently seeking a Building Control Officer to join our team on a contract basis in Tonypandy. This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your technical expertise and leadership skills to a role that contributes significantly to the Borough’s development and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical advice, guidance, and solutions on building control matters to the team, the public, other staff, and developers.

  2. Oversee projects across the Borough, liaising with partners and stakeholders to ensure objectives are met to everyone's satisfaction.

  3. Manage a diverse and complex personal workload, dealing with various schemes across the County Borough.

  4. Supervise consultants, including Structural Engineers, Fire Engineers, and Access Consultants, to ensure effective performance and outcomes.

  5. Handle dangerous structures and buildings during normal working hours.

  6. Support the Housing Grants and Building Control Manager in achieving objectives and performance targets outlined in the Business Plan.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: HNC/HND in Construction or the Built Environment.

  • Knowledge: A substantial understanding of the Building Regulations, including their practical application and associated legislative standards.

  • Skills:

    • Ability to assess the impact of legislative or administrative changes and implement required adjustments proactively, including health and safety compliance.

    • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills to manage complex workloads and liaise effectively with various stakeholders.
