Job Overview:Atlantis Medical is currently recruiting an experienced Ophthalmic Theatre Nurse to join the dynamic team at Torbay and South Devon NHS Trust. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing high-quality patient care during ophthalmic surgeries, ensuring all procedures are carried out safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre-Operative Care: Prepare patients for ophthalmic surgeries, ensuring they are informed and comfortable before the procedure.
  • Assisting in Surgery: Assist the surgical team during ophthalmic procedures, maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring that all necessary instruments and supplies are available.
  • Post-Operative Care: Monitor patients in the recovery room, ensuring a smooth recovery process, and provide immediate post-operative care.
  • Medication Administration: Safely administer medications and anaesthetics as required, following strict medical guidelines.
  • Infection Control: Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure that all surgical areas and instruments are sterilized and prepared according to the highest standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the smooth and safe running of ophthalmic theatre operations.
  • Patient Documentation: Accurately document patient details, surgical procedures, and post-operative care, maintaining up-to-date records as per NHS protocols.
  • Patient Support: Provide emotional support to patients and their families, explaining procedures and addressing concerns before and after surgery.
