The Grand Hotel is one of Torquays finest 4 star hotels situated opposite Torre Abbey Sands with a spectacular view over the bay! The hotel consists of 132bedrooms forming different individual styles and views, The 1881 Restaurant, The Brasserie & Lounge, Leisure & Spa Facilities with indoor and outdoor swimming pools along with perfect events spaces which accommodates meetings, weddings and events.

As part of our exciting recruitment program, we are looking to recruit a experienced Hotel Restaurant Manager on a full-time basis working to the needs of the business.

The position involves late nights and weekends and due to the nature of the business will be required to work during peak seasonal holidays.

You will ideally have worked within a hotel restaurant/bar at supervisory or management level or within another supervisory position within a food and beverage outlet. The position would suit a candidate looking for Food & Beverage / Senior Management progression with excellent opportunities to progress further.

As Restaurant Manager you will be expected:

  • Lead by example with regard to service standards as required for a 4-star dining standard.
  • Deliver a truly warm and welcoming experience for all guests in the restaurant.
  • Work with the team to ensure guest expectations are always exceeded in all areas of restaurant service delivery.
  • Ensure a full understanding of billing to ensure guests are charged correctly, EPOS is always maintained with the correct pricing and the team are trained accordingly to the agreed policies to ensure no losses.
  • Possess outstanding knowledge of all food, wines, bar, cooking techniques and allergy requirements to ensure guests can be advised appropriately.
  • Possess an outstanding knowledge of restaurant and bar service styles.
  • Overseeing shifts and remaining hands on within the operation.
  • Always ensure the restaurant is consistently presented, with a strong focus on quality, cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Competently manage the ordering and control of stock items.
  • Help manage the heart of house service areas to include cleanliness, hygiene, stock control and wastage.
  • Maintain strong and effective relationships with the kitchen team.
  • To have the ability, confidence and capability to deal with any guest or staff concerns.
  • Be responsible for coaching, training and mentoring the restaurant front of house team.
  • Optimize sales and work alongside ourHead Chef and his brigade to develop the business.
  • Working closely with the Food & Beverage Manager and Senior Hotel Management in the development of the department and the business.

Our appointed Restaurant Manager will ideally have:

  • Previous managerial experience in a successful, vibrant, high-volume restaurant.
  • A strong background from within hotel or restaurant sector, preferably at a 4* star standard.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, listening, writing).
  • Exceptional organisational skills.
  • Possess a keen eye for detail.
  • Have a passion and strong knowledge for all things food and beverage.
  • An understanding of the ingredients we use, cooking methods and understanding various dietary requirements.
  • The determination to create a memorable guest experience.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £30,000-£33,000. per year
