A hotel based in Great Torrington is seeking a Community Organiser to lead the exciting revitalisation.  This is a unique opportunity to help start the journey, breathing new life into a historic Grade II Listed building and transforming it into a vibrant community-owned bar, restaurant and hotel.This is a self-employed position, reporting to the Board of Directors working 17.5 hours per week. While you'll work primarily from home, you’ll also be involved in local events and meetings. All work-related expenses will be reimbursed, and you may be asked to take on additional tasks to help meet project goals.As the Community Organiser you will:
  • Meet with residents, local groups, and stakeholders to promote the project’s vision and build enthusiasm to get people involved through volunteering and investing. 
  • Handle support letters, maintain a contact database, manage email and phone communications, and keep accurate records. 
  • Perform basic bookkeeping and assist in managing project finances. 
  • Promote the project and share updates through various social media channels.
  • Organise community events and promotional activities to raise awareness and increase engagement.
We are looking for a Community Organiser with the following:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Able to work independently and manage your own workload effectively. 
  • Comfortable with basic bookkeeping and financial administration. 
  • Proficient in using social media platforms to engage and inform the community.
  • Experience in organising community events is a strong advantage. 
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
