Super opportunity to join an established and prestigious property company as an Accounts Assistant covering both their Totnes & Tiverton offices (mainly Totnes) so ideally based somewhere around South Devon as long as you are happy to drive to Tiverton when required. Salary in the region of £30,000 for an experienced candidate.

Main Duties

  • Working in conjunction with the Commercial Department in the preparation of annual budgets for some Block Management and Mixed/Commercial developments, preparation of Annual Service Charge Accounts or Service Charge expenditure Certificates for same, ensuring correct charges are recovered from Leaseholders and tenants, in accordance with the terms of their lease.
  • Preparation of Annual Accounts for some Commercial and Rural Estates clients & liaison with clients' accountants and auditors. Regular reporting to clients of their income and expenditure and remitting balances in a timely fashion. Production of fee accounts on remittance.
  • HMRC & RICS/DPB compliance including Annual Non-Resident Landlords income reporting, Annual Statutory Notice return for all other rental income.
  • Coordinating insurance services on many of our managed properties such as holding insurance documents, keeping files up to date with mid-term adjustments and paying premiums. In addition, you will be responsible for recovering premiums from tenants/leaseholders as required.
  • Preparations and submission of quarterly VAT returns.
  • Client payroll using Moneysoft, plus payroll reporting, including end of year.
  • Making Tax Digital.

Experience

  • You do not have to be a qualified Accountant, but you should have experience in an accounting role, possibly dealing with multiple client entities.
  • A good knowledge of bookkeeping and experience in preparing accounts to trial balance is essential.
  • Previous exposure to commercial service charge budgets and recovery would be useful but not essential.
  • Previous experience of handling Client Money and RICS (or other professional body) compliance would be advantageous.
  • Our client uses MRI/Qube Property Management software for all rental properties and exposure to this or similar would be useful.

The role will be based in Totnes and Tiverton so the successful candidate should be ideally living around South Devon with occasional travel to Tiverton.

Hours of work will be Mon-Fri 08.45 - 5.30; 1 hour for lunch, however, applications for slightly less hours may be considered.

In return our client is offering a salary of £28-30,000.
