Service Engineer

30K per annum

Location: Totnes

A Service Engineer is requested to work in a global business on their busy site based in Totnes area. In this role, you will be responsible for performing service, repair, and re-calibration on instruments returned by customers.

Your tasks will involve electronic fault finding, mechanical dis-assembly/ reassembly, and thorough instrument testing to ensure they meet high operational standards. Additionally, you'll be expected to plan and prioritise your daily workload, managing resources efficiently to maintain productivity and meet service deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform servicing, repairs, and re-calibration on instruments returned by customers, including troubleshooting electronic faults, mechanical dis-assembly/reassembly, and complete testing of instruments.
  • Effectively plan and prioritise daily tasks to optimise resource usage and meet deadlines.
  • Ensure all work is documented accurately, following company policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Utilise business management software to track and document service activities.
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned by management to support department operations.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths, Grade C or higher.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general computer usage.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and dis-assembly.
  • Skilled in PCB handling, repairs, and soldering.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and able to manage a varied workload.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing job requirements and priorities.
