Operations Manager - Exclusive Opportunity | Silverstone | Specialist Support for the Motor Industry
Are you an experienced Operations Manager passionate about precision, problem-solving, and delivering outstanding service? Our exclusive client, a small yet highly specialised company based in Silverstone, provides a complete solution to the motor industry - from maintaining heritage vehicles to event preparation, transportation, and technical support. Their attention to detail is second to none, and they’re now looking for a hands-on Operations Manager to join their team.
Reporting directly to the Director, you’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of the business, ensuring smooth workflow, high-quality service, and efficient staff coordination. This is a site-based role with occasional travel, requiring flexibility, leadership, and an ability to adapt.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing and coordinating a small, diverse team across various roles
- Overseeing daily operations, including workshop and premises management
- Scheduling staff and subcontractors to meet business needs
- Liaising with the external Transport Manager for Operator Licence compliance
- Maintaining quality control standards and ensuring ISO 9001 compliance
- Handling stock control for workshop and valeting supplies
- Managing site Health & Safety and keeping the Citation Platform updated
- Using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Go Canvas for reporting and tracking vehicle/premises maintenance, stock, and usage
- Acting as an emergency contact for alarm call-outs
- Stepping in to cover staff absences when needed to ensure smooth operations
The Candidate
The deal candidate will have the following attributes:
- Leadership experience - ability to manage and motivate a small team
- Calm under pressure - capable of handling last-minute changes and short-notice requests
- Strong problem-solving skills with a "can-do" attitude
- HGV Class 1 licence preferred (but not essential if you have strong HGV knowledge)
- Mechanical/maintenance knowledge advantageous
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement
- Flexibility - willing to work occasional weekends and travel within the UK and abroad
- Local candidate preferred (within a 30-minute commute to Silverstone)
Remuneration:
Salary: Up to circa £40,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday 8am - 4:30pm (30 minutes lunch)
Holidays: 28 days including bank holidays
