Great opportunity for an experienced Electrical Test Engineer to join our well-established client based in Thame!!!

Job Purpose: Responsible for testing and fault finding of both high and low-voltage switchgear assemblies following test procedures and using traditional fault diagnostics.

Work from electrical schematics to ensure the safety and functionality of systems and associated equipment (control panels, electrical boards etc). Working closely with the Production Manager and shop floor staff to meet tight deadlines and targets.

Conduct panel wiring of equipment that will subsequently be fitted to the switchgear. Advise the rest of the team (Production, Project teams etc.) on any electrical issues or suggestions. Occasionally go to customer sites to provide on-site fitting, testing and advice to their teams.

Monitor functional test yield and take corrective actions were necessary. Conduct production activities relating to the manufacture and assembly of electrical switchgear. Develop and execute test processes to support needs and permit future growth.

Key Accountabilities: Adhere to all Company Health and Safety Policies and Practices, ensuring safe working practices are carried out at all times. Manage the Health and safety and housekeeping of your work area.

Ensure the accurate completion of test records as required including birth certificates and time sheets. Ensure maintenance is conducted in line with maintenance schedules and equipment requirements.

Alert the Production Manager when any tools or equipment fail to meet the requirements for which they are intended. Raise awareness of problems with production with the Production Manager and work with others to find and effectively implement solutions.

Develop initiatives to improve efficiency, Health & Safety and participate in continuous improvement and safety initiatives/activities. Provide greater knowledge during problem-solving activities and support other members of the team.

Dimensions: Use of hand vibrating tools and hand tools when required. Use and wear PPE when required. Regularly lift/move items of 10kg and occasionally up to 25kg within safe lifting guidelines. Frequently sit, stand, walk, reach within hands and arm's length, stoop, kneel, and crouch.

Work in Production areas that have moderate risk and require safety precautions e.g. Operating Machinery, Moving Vehicles, operating Overhead cranes in areas of relative noWork in test areas that have potentially high risks attributed to HV testing. Use substances covered under the COSHH regulations.

Secondary Activities / Tasks, Attend training courses and participate in "on the job" training, to develop skills. Take on additional duties after training and qualification. May be required to show or explain processes to visitors.

Experience Knowledge & Skills, Can read, understand, and follow Build Instructions BOM's and electrical schematics. Can use ERP and Team Centre to obtain the information required. Can carry out tasks unsupervised.

Has a high degree of product manufacturing or process knowledge and can apply that to problem-solving. Tackles problem-solving in a logical way to arrive at the root cause.

Knows when to escalate issues and problems. Can clearly communicate both written and verbally what is required. Can use E-mail, Word, and Excel to an intermediate standard. Good attention to detail and good manual dexterity. Relevant experience of working with switchgear and the ability to interrogate and test these systems. Experience in discussing electrical matters with colleagues and offering solid advice on best practices.

Other Requirements, Previous experience as an Electrical Test Engineer. C&G 2391-52 Level 3 Award in Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations.

NVQ or SVQ level 3 or City & Guilds 2360/2330 part 1 & 2 qualification. City & Guilds 18th Edition qualification. Experience working in an electrical testing environment. A good understanding of UK Health and Safety Regulations within the workplace.
