We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our client's maintenance team in Tredegar. This role involves responding to and resolving equipment breakdowns, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, and implementing improvement schemes on equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both electrical and mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
Day-to-day of the role:- Work as part of the maintenance team to carry out tasks unsupervised, including during weekends without immediate support.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and resolve issues efficiently.
- Execute planned preventative maintenance and improvement tasks when not addressing breakdowns.
- Support the Maintenance Manager in achieving all maintenance tasks with good communication, flexibility, and strong team ethics.
- Utilize electrical skills for fault finding in panels, inverters, motors, switchgear, and installation work, including familiarity with PLCs (Siemens S5 & S7).
- Apply mechanical skills in areas such as hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication, welding, press, and injection moulding.
- Conduct maintenance health, safety, and environmental tasks including legionella checks, fire alarm system checks, and risk assessments.
- Assist the team in updating maintenance-related spreadsheets to track workload and team efficiencies.
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Qualification
- Proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Lean techniques such as Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, and autonomous maintenance.
- Strong understanding of HSE policies and preventative maintenance techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
