Works Engineer

Reed are working with an amazing company in Tring who are seeking a dedicated Works Engineer to oversee all plant equipment and building facilities, ensuring they are suitably maintained and meet all statutory requirements. This role is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and safety of their temperature-assured packaging production operations.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Complete routine and preventive maintenance of all plant equipment and facilities.
  • Conduct Insurance inspections of plant across all units and support the Quality Department with COSHH responsibilities.
  • Manage site services and building services, including the maintenance of buildings and heating systems.
  • Oversee plant development and control, routine plant servicing (air, water, steam, and testing), and water treatment.
  • Maintain high standards of tidiness and cleanliness in working areas, adhering to the company’s housekeeping standards.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement and Problem Solving training & activities within the department.
  • Promote the company in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Formal engineering qualifications (BTEC or equivalent).
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
  • GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C or equivalent).
  • Valid Driver’s Licence.
  • Experience in mechanical and electrical engineering, including preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Strong experience in maintaining building facilities and managing breakdowns/fault finding.
  • Good IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work under pressure, plan own workload, and work independently under own initiative.
Desirable:
  • Reach Truck/Counterbalance licence.
  • Loler Inspection Certificate.
  • Basic knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems.
  • Experience in EPS moulding plant or similar environments.
  • Exposure to Lean manufacturing principles.
