Graduate Town Planner - Kent / Sussex

The client, a leading planning consultancy based in Kent, is looking for a Graduate Town Planner with some experience to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a wide range of development projects, including residential, commercial, agricultural, and industrial schemes.

The successful candidate will gain experience in preparing, submitting, and monitoring planning applications, as well as engaging in pre-application discussions, enforcement actions, and appeals. You'll work closely with clients to provide expert advice on planning prospects, ensuring a coordinated approach across all teams, and delivering successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and submission of planning applications (outline and detailed).
  • Participate in pre-application discussions and provide guidance on planning compliance and enforcement issues.
  • Contribute to the preparation of Written Representations appeals, and assist in Public Inquiry work.
  • Collaborate with a team of specialists and project manage submissions when needed.
  • Engage with local authorities, elected councillors, and the public to drive successful planning outcomes.

Key Requirements:

  • RTPI-accredited degree in Town Planning or a related field.
  • Some experience in a planning or consultancy role (preferably in town planning).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop professionally.
