Accounts Assistant – Purchase Ledger

•    Job Type:  Permanent and Full-Time•    Location:  Tunbridge Wells•    Salary:  £26,500pa•    Working arrangements:  Office based to begin with – hybrid after successful completion of probationary period

Join a finance team as an Accounts Assistant focusing on the purchase ledger process.  This role involves journal entry processing, reconciling supplier statements, chasing outstanding invoices, and recording and processing invoices.  Additionally, you will take on responsibility for ad hoc transactional accounting tasks, contributing to the efficiency and compliance of our financial operations.

Day-to-day of the role:

•    Invoice Processing: Ensure all invoices are correctly filed, addressed, and processed within the agreed terms.•    Payment Management: Manage and execute weekly and fortnightly payment runs for multiple companies.•    Issue Resolution: Address daily queries related to the purchase ledger, especially the IPOS system, and communicate any concerns to staff and management.•    Data Management: Help gather and organize data needed by accountants and management.•    Customer Support: Serve as the primary contact for supplier inquiries and assist both customers and suppliers with payment-related queries.•    Compliance: Adhere to all group policies, including financial regulations and bank mandates.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

•    Professional Certification: AAT level 3 or a similar qualification in bookkeeping is preferred.•    Experience: Proven experience in purchase ledger and using purchase order systems.•    Technical Skills: Strong bookkeeping abilities, proficient in IT and Excel, and experienced in computer-based record keeping.•    Analytical Skills: Capable of analysing data effectively to draw sound conclusions.•    Attention to Detail: High accuracy and excellent numerical skills are crucial.•    Communication: Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally, ensuring a positive impact.•    Customer Service: Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build productive internal and external relationships.•    Innovative Thinking: Ability to innovate while assessing risks and opportunities in a balanced manner.
