As a Design and Technology Teacher with expertise in Product Design and Engineering, you will play a key role in fostering students’ practical skills and encouraging them to tackle real-world challenges with creativity and precision. Key Responsibilities of a Design and Technology Teacher:

  • Deliver stimulating and effective lessons in Product Design and Engineering, allowing students to develop both technical knowledge and creative thinking.
  • Encourage students to explore sustainable and forward-thinking design practices, making a positive impact on their education.
  • Guide students through comprehensive projects, from concept to completion, utilising the school’s excellent facilities.
  • Maintain a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols in all practical lessons.

The successful Design and Technology Teacher must have:

  • Qualified Teacher: Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) in the UK or an equivalent qualification, ideally with a focus in Design and Technology.
  • Experience in Product Design & Engineering: Demonstrable experience teaching Product Design and Engineering at the secondary level.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with design tools, machinery, and software relevant to the field.
  • Creative Mindset: Capable of creating lesson plans that are both challenging and enjoyable, fostering a love for design and innovation.
  • Mentorship: Someone who can encourage students to consider careers in design, engineering, and related fields, developing critical problem-solving abilities along the way.
