English Teacher required for SEN Secondary School in Royal Tunbridge Wells

A good independent school in Royal Tunbridge Wells is currently looking for a creative English Teacher who is committed to improving the exam results, progress, and engagement of pupils. If you’re ready for a new challenge, we’d love to hear from you.

This is an alternative provision for children with SEN needs who are at risk of being excluded from mainstream education. The teacher is required to teach pupils in their Key Stage 4 setting, some of whom are preparing for their functional skills and GCSE exams.

The role is full-time (working hours 08:30 to 16:00) and to start ASAP (pending background checks).

About the role:

This is a full-time role in which you will be expected to deliver well-planned lessons and strong behaviour management. The school’s vision is to develop well-rounded citizens through a balanced curriculum, and requires a dynamic teacher who can think on their feet and tailor their lessons to the needs of the pupils.

You will be working alongside an extremely supportive and collaborative department with a team of excellent practitioners. Teachers will also have access to the school’s internal CPD programme.

The ideal candidate:

  • Experience teaching English at Key Stage 4.
  • Extensive experience of supporting pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours.
  • Strong behaviour management skills (if you have Team Teach training, this would be very beneficial).
  • Confident in being able to create individualised programmes of work to meet additional needs.
  • Available to start ASAP
  • Already has an Enhanced Child DBS on the update service.
