Finance Officer

  • Contract: Full-time, 37 hours per week, 42 weeks per year (term time plus 3 weeks)
  • Location: Richmond / Twickenham
  • Salary: £29,002 to £31,935 (pro rata from £31,074 to £33,912 FTE)
  • Hours:8am -4pm - Monday to Friday

My Client are seeking a dedicated Finance Officer to provide efficient and effective financial administrative support within their school. This role involves handling day-to-day financial transactions in accordance with Trust policies and contributing to the overall financial health of the institution.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage purchasing processes including liaising with suppliers, raising purchase orders, and placing orders.
  • Handle accounts payable tasks such as invoice processing and preparing payments.
  • Maintain accurate financial records by inputting payments and receipts into the school’s finance package and other internal systems.
  • Assist in the preparation of management accounts and ensure all financial documentation is processed timely and accurately.
  • Oversee department budget reporting and manage the administration of lettings including dealing with enquiries and preparation of invoices.
  • Support internal and external audit preparations, ensuring all documentation is consistent and accurate.
  • Administer school trips and events, including preparing costings and itineraries, and liaising with transport companies and staff.
  • Process monthly charge card reconciliation entries and monitor the Finance email inbox.
  • Manage cash handling and banking processes, including bank transactions posting, monthly bank reconciliation, and online purchases.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (A-C) including English and Maths.
  • Proven experience in financial administration.
  • Proficiency in ICT, particularly MS Word, Teams, and Excel.
  • Excellent numeracy and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Desirable: Business Qualification, AAT or similar; experience in financial administration within an academy, school, or charity/not-for-profit organisation.
