Sales Estimator

Department: Design & Estimating

Reports to: European Operations Director

Job Purpose: To cost enquiries and projects for our customers.
 

Responsibilities and duties for the role will include:

  • To liaise with design and sales to understand the needs for a clients quotation (QM) and to produce that detailed QM from concept to completion.
  • Speaking to existing, finding new and developing all relationships with suppliers and installation teams, to obtain best possible prices and quality of products.
  • To seek out best in class solutions/products for all QM’s.
  • To manage the sales team expectations of QM turnaround so that they can relay such vital information to the client.
  • Be aware of project cost implications and avoid any pricing pitfalls to ensure that revenue and margin is realistic and achievable through the lifecycle of the project.
  • Helping the Company to maintain, develop and managing customer relationships.
  • Working collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders to understand and meet the customers’ needs.

Key attributes/skills and qualifications:

Essential

  • Ability to estimate projects from concept to quote completion and to understand drawings and bills of quantities.
  • Must be confident with your mathematical abilities/skills as you will be using them every day in order to create quotations.
  • A proven background in a construction related industry, where your previous role has been to estimate and/or quote such projects.
  • Basic knowledge/understanding in the use of any AutoCAD package.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and liaise with clients, suppliers and internal departments of all levels and backgrounds.
  • A friendly, positive and can-do attitude.
  • Working to strict deadlines and proven organisational skills working with multiple projects of varying stages, all at the same time.
  • A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to reply efficiently and without delay.

Desirable, but not vital 

  • A working understanding of Business Central.
  • Knowledge of a CRM system.
  • Previous experience/knowledge of mezzanine floors, building regulations and multi-disciplined construction projects.

Variation clause:

This job description will be reviewed and updated periodically in order to ensure that it relates to the job performed, or to incorporate any proposed changes. This procedure will be conducted by the Head of Sales/Sales & Marketing Director in consultation with the postholder. In these circumstances it will be the aim to reach agreement with the postholder on reasonable changes, but if agreement is not possible, the company reserves the right to make changes to the job description following consultation.
