SEN Teaching assistant - Twickenham

Start asap - Mainstream secondary school


We are currently working with a mainstream secondary school in Twickenham. They are currently looking for an SEN teaching assistant to work with SEN students age 11-16. The role may involve occasional personal care, the ideal candidate will be from a support worker/ care background trained in using hoists and wheelchair handling as the role involves moving the student from wheelchair to chair. Good behaviour management & experience of working with SEN pupils in a school setting is desirable. The Teaching assistant will be providing support to target their specific needs.

The successful candidate will start a weeks trial asap and will need a DBS on the update service/ be open to applying for one.

The school is located close to a mainline train station and various local bus routes. Parking available on site and an overflow carpark nearby.


Key skills and experience needed:

  • SEN Experience
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Trained/ open to personal care and wheelchair handling
  • University degree or A Level qualification
  • Previous support work within a school or other child related experience
  • Professional manor
  • Enthusiasm and friendly approach
  • Experience or knowledge within special educational needs
